Book Presale of Born at the End of the World a Huge Success- Thank you!

It is amazing that in just 16 days I have been able to achieve my presale goal! Thanks to the encouragement and generosity of so many, the next step of the publishing process of my book, Born at the End of the World, has become a reality.

You might be wondering- how does it all work?

Years ago, when I first put fingers to keyboard and started research for this book, I dreamed of my story on bookshelves all over the world. DREAM BIG, I told myself, who knows how far I can go?

I needed to write this book.

As I looked into the process of what it would take to get there, the list of obstacles seemed too high. Barriers to finishing a project like this and putting out there are overwhelming and the statistics are dire. About 97% of people who start out writing a book never finish... I promised myself not to think about all the things that would put me in that category, but to take it a day at a time.

So I did.

As the years rolled by, words on the pages gathered and grew until my first manuscript was done. After teaching myself lots of things about the craft of writing, hours of recorded interviews, a trip to my mother's village, a visit to the Red Terror Museum, ploughing through hundreds of old records about the Red Terror and typing 100,000 plus words (about 400 pages) - I looked up from my work to re-visit the publication process.

Right around then, my husband Moges handed me an award-winning book titled Welcome Back to Abujah Once Again by Carol Yee. He had worked with Carol and was one of her backers on her publishing journey. Knowing how much I wanted to publish, he got a presale perk that reserved me some precious 1-1 time with her.

I had a wonderful conversation with Carol last year about the writing and publishing process and followed in her footsteps by enrolling myself in the Book Creator Institute Program to take me to the finish line. Once New Degree Press green lit my book, as it is often said... the rest is history!

I went the hybrid publishing route (that's where you, all my supporters came in!) My big WHY for all this is to do justice to an amazing story and to get into your hands. Who knows what the future holds? I continue to dream big!
